Last week we discussed the warm-up of the marketing topic. There is a lot to consider but as long as you are providing valuable and meaningful content, you will be good.
This week I wanted to talk about strategy. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Crafting a strategy isn’t as hard as you think it is. One of the easiest ways is to look at the methods with the least friction. What fits your personality? Is it a video? How about writing? Do you love designing?
Getting started is the hardest part and your initial efforts might suck. They won’t get any better if you don’t try. The reason why I bring up the solution of using the method with the least friction is that it makes it easier for you to start.
If you love reading or writing, maybe you can start creating dispatches or blogs to write on your website. Maybe you can tell an awesome story. That blog can turn into a mailing list, which is super valuable. Writing is actually one of my weaknesses, but I chose this medium to improve it. Like I mentioned, I sucked but there is only one way to get better.
Maybe you are great on camera and used to being behind the lens. From here, you can do all sorts of things. You can go live on social media, make YouTube videos, and IG TV videos. Video happens to be super popular. These can also be turned into audio recordings depending on how you record them.
My favorite methods are currently writing and video. These methods are fun for me.
The goal here is to get you started. Once you define who you are speaking to with the easiest method for you, the habit will start to build faster.
Remember it is a seed. Keep doing it and over time you will have ended up creating all this content that you didn’t have before. The stats start to add up.
I would caution social media in a way due to how easy it is to get distracted. Unless you are a social media wizard and engage with people really will. You still have to create interesting content for social media! Don’t forget that.
When it is easier for you, you will be faster and think about it less. This leads to more content!
Takeaway:
What medium are you most experienced with?
What is the easiest or most fun for you?
